My Approach
Counseling provides a unique opportunity for growth, healing, and problem-solving within a supportive, collaborative relationship. I take an integrative approach tailored to each client’s unique needs, blending cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), brief and solution-focused techniques along with my Socratic and Meta questioning style. Together, we’ll work to understand your challenges, uncover your strengths, and develop new ones. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of successful therapy. By building a partnership based on trust, respect, and collaboration, we can work together to achieve your goals. Whether you’re seeking relief from anxiety, support through a life transition or circumstance, or guidance on improving relationships, I’ll provide tools and strategies that are practical, effective, and sustainable in your daily life. I’m committed to empowering my clients to develop new ways of thinking, behaving, and responding to life’s challenges. My goal is to equip you with the skills and insights you need to create lasting change and face the future with confidence. |
About Althea
Hi, I’m Althea, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for helping individuals and couples create meaningful change in their lives. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science from the University of Chicago and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia, I continuously expand my skills through ongoing education, seminars, and workshops to stay current and provide the best care possible. I see counseling as a collaborative journey. I strive to create a comfortable, accepting atmosphere where we can work together to address what feels overwhelming, stuck, or unmanageable. Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, transitions, or relationship issues, my goal is to walk alongside you, empowering you to develop new behaviors, skills, and perspectives that lead to a more rewarding life. When I’m not working with clients, you'll find me with a book in hand, nurturing my plants, serving the community with my church, or exploring new culinary delights as a low-key foodie. Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or uncomfortable. You deserve a relaxed, judgment-free space to sort things out, gain perspective, and build momentum. If you're feeling emotionally tired, or unsure of your next step, I invite you to take that first step toward clarity and change. I feel privileged to share in each client’s journey and would be honored to be part of yours. |
